Ice Fishing in very deep water can be much  tougher than fishing from a boat in the summer.  One of the hardest parts about it is finding the fish.  You are basically limited to a tiny area that is the size of your hole.

If you don’t have a fish finder or a flasher, it can be even harder to find the fish. Many species of fish such as Lake trout and Whitefish will sometimes suspend in the water column.

A good method of finding those suspended fish is to work the entire water column with a lure that has attractive qualities.
