Tip # 38 – When Is The Best Time To Fish?
Fishing is something that most of us like to do more than anything else. So it probably goes without saying that the best time to go fishing is whenever we get the chance! I can say for myself that even if conditions could not be worse, if I have time to go fishing, I’m out there, and I’m out there with bells on!
On another note however, there are better times to fish than others. When given the opportunity to drop everything and leave, conditions can dictate the best time to fish, and when you can, you definitely should!
Here are a few tips on when the best time to go fishing is:
- One hour before and after sunrise and sunset can be a particularly good time, especially when the weather is stable. This times are often referred to as the “morning rise” and the “evening rise”.
- When the air pressure is either steady or rising, fishing tends to be absolutely amazing. This is evident particularly when fishing for migratory species such as steelhead and brown trout. Keep an eye on the barometer.
- For fly fishermen, when there is a hatch on, you better hope you are lucky enough to be on the river! Periods like these often result in fantastic fishing, but be warned, you’ll have to match the hatch or you’ll likely go fishless!
